Which interactive whiteboard should I choose – a hard one or a soft one?
Monday, November 30th, 2009 | IWBs
Some make them Hard some make them Soft
All swear their one’s the best
The question that’s presented oft’
In which should you invest
Young Goldilocks was likewise vexed
When she had to select
The hard-soft choice left her perplexed
So both she did reject
Proponents of the Hard proclaim
Beware – the Soft will scratch
More durable – Hard’s claim to fame –
You’ll never need a patch
Sheer rubbish does the Soft retort
Our board’s robust and strong
Of damage seldom a report
Hard’s reasoning’s all wrong
But if you lose the Hard board’s pen
You’ll get a nasty sting
Your fingers – you may try all ten –
To you won’t mean a thing
On Soft boards you can’t rest your palms
Its brain you will confuse
To arm and wrist you can do harm
Good reason to refuse
A hard boiled egg’s superior
By that you do infer
That soft eggs are inferior
But many won’t concur
At picnics soft eggs just won’t do
And so you may decide
To boil them until they are blue
Before you take a ride
But if your breakfast toast you dip
– It’s done by girls and boys –
Much diff’rent to a picnic trip
A hard egg brings no joys
From Goldilocks and yolks we learn
Give ear to reason’s voice
While these debates can twist and turn
– Just you can make the choice

I’d like to add my little bit
(Though rhyming is quite hard)
To add my voice to what’s been writ
By Khanya’s mighty bard
Technology is growing fast
Computers everywhere
1000 schools we’ve long since passed
All faces smiles bear
Together a united team
Great wonders can perform
Our task impossible did seem
Yet now it is the norm
With daily blogs and Goldilocks
And boards both hard and soft
We’ll train until each classroom rocks
And learning’s held aloft
Computers are the easy bit
But attitudes must change
Each teacher’s heart a flame that’s lit
Across the subject range
Unless the kids they can inspire
New learning to attain
Then I.T. that we so admire
Will all have been in vain
Very clever!

an EIAWB in full use
hard or soft, it must amuse,
pick your choice and apply your duce
till the data projector lamp fuse
and don’t blame or accuse
hard or soft in use
take it,no refuse.
Albie I will reuse 10x
